About the project
I created the album artwork for Un Número, the debut album by my friend and collaborator Lupe, a key figure in Argentina’s electronic scene.
The concept was simple yet loaded with meaning — Un Número doesn’t just mean “A Number.” In the context of a record that questions the system we live in, it refers to a Spanish expression: “In the system, you are just a number.”
We decided to photograph Lupe’s actual national ID card — a literal symbol of bureaucratic identity — against a background of pink cellophane she had covering her lamps at home.
That same material filled her apartment, tinting the light for improvised raves and late-night recording sessions.
The image became a synthesis of her universe: personal, playful, and subtly political — a protest disguised as pop minimalism.

About the artist
MissLupe is one of the most distinctive voices in Argentina’s new electronic scene — producer, singer, and performer. Her debut album Un Número (2021) was independently written, produced, and released, earning critical acclaim for its blend of pop experimentation and social commentary. (Página/12)
The record explores identity and alienation within a bureaucratic, hyper-connected world.
In DNI, one of the standout tracks, she sings:
“Sé que te cansó perder. Ir a la fila del banco, los ojos en blanco…”
—a line that turns exhaustion and bureaucracy into rhythm.
As she told IndieHoy, the album is a call to “wake up through dance”, reclaiming individuality within the system. (IndieHoy)
The artwork mirrors that same spirit — fragile and luminous, transforming a bureaucratic symbol into a personal statement.
